Founded in April 2018 by Kelly L. Harnett in the scenic Black Hills of Western South Dakota, Beautify Spearfish began as a grassroots movement to tackle litter in the community. With the help of two dedicated volunteers, it grew into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on litter prevention, sustainability, and native pollinator conservation.
Our mission is to inspire and empower the community to protect and enhance our natural environment by promoting the 5 R’s—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle—and advocating for eco-friendly practices. We educate the public on the impact of plastics, balloons, and litter, the importance of preserving native pollinator and wildlife habitats, and the value of supporting local businesses to ensure a sustainable and resilient future.
